I’ve seen this picture floating around Facebook recently and would like to take a moment to explain why it frustrates me to no end to see it.
Disclaimer: This is an opinion piece, but has truth throughout. Not “my truth,” but Biblical truth. If you are offended by what I am about to say, take your offense to Jesus and find out why you’re offended. Because if you’re offended by truth, you’re offended by God Himself.
The Women’s Suffrage movement was born out of rebellion, pride, selfishness, and hate. Oh yeah, I’m going for it today.
If you read the Declaration of Sentiments, it is riddled with hatred for God, His order of things, Biblical standards, authority, and is an obvious ploy of the devil. Think about it! The whole premise of the Women’s Suffrage/Women’s Rights movement is what women deserve and men’s withholding it from them. Here is the Declaration if you’d like to read it. As you do, search your heart for areas of agreement and really consider why you agree with any statement of proof they list:
Now read in Genesis Eve is deceived and eats of the forbidden fruit:
“For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.”Genesis 3:5-6
In this passage, the devil (played by the crafty serpent) convinces Eve that she deserves that fruit and that she can be equal with God. He puts the notion out there that God has somehow withheld her so-called right to wisdom and gives her the idea that God is a liar. She eats the fruit and gives some to her husband, and the rest is history.
In the same way, the Women’s Rights founders introduced that same lie. Their subsequent followers over the years have bought into that lie and decided they deserve better than what they have. A snowball effect is what follows.
I get it. There are men out there who have messed things up. There have been men over the years who have been abusive, controlling, and condescending toward their wives. Heck, I was married to one! But, the way God intended it was for men to be the head of the house and to love their wives as Jesus loves the church; with sacrifice, provision, and protection. Men are good for us. They are our covering. That in itself should give us a feeling of liberty! If you have a good man, he follows after Christ’s example and loves you, provides for you, and protects you no matter what the cost to himself.
The Women’s Rights movement is not a cry for equality. It’s a cry for self-development and promotion and hatred of men everywhere. It is selfishness and pride, and is emotionally run.
Something else to consider: If you are a Christian, you cannot be a feminist. If you are a Christian and are following the Women’s Rights movement, you need to know that the women who started it were rebellious, prideful, self-seeking, petty women who hate God and all that He stands for.
Proof of this is in one of the founders of the movement’s writings: The Woman’s Bible. In it, she (Elizabeth Stanton) questioned the truth that man was created first and exchanges that for a lie, supposing that women were born first and therefore men are inferior and should be submissive to them. Here is an exerpt:
She also called Christianity superstition, stated that self-development is a higher duty than self-sacrifice, and promoted a life of anger and abusive language being a healthier way of living. Stanton states, “I think if women would indulge more freely in vituperation, they would enjoy ten times the health they do.”
A life of anger, hatred, pride, selfishness, and rebellion will only breed those things.
Proof of that is in the current, where “Nasty Women” are applauded, murdering babies is celebrated, transgenderism is popularized, children are brainwashed into believing and accepting a confusing and psychological untruth, and men are becoming more and more effeminate than ever to the cheering of deranged women everywhere.
Final thought: I am all for women’s right to vote and women’s education and pay equality for the same job/same effort. But if giving up those rights meant keeping one child from being aborted, one gender-confused kid from transitioning, one good man from turning effeminate, or one young girl growing up to be a “nasty woman” full of anger and bitterness toward men and God, I would give those rights up in a second!
Prayer: Father, forgive us for seeking to find that which You did not ordain. Forgive us for thinking that You would deprive us of anything we needed. Forgive our rebellion in thinking we deserve better than the perfection and freedom You provide for us in Your plan.
Forgive us for our pride and our exchanging Your truth for a lie. Help us to become women of Your purpose, following after Your commands. Help us to understand Your purpose for men, appreciate their covering for us, and our place in Your plan. Teach us to stand up for what’s truly right, and fight for the right causes: the sanctity of marriage, the life of the unborn, help for the confused, and the rightful appreciation and encouragement of boys and men in their natural way. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
