This morning I was sitting in awe of the Lord and how He is everywhere at once, yet still personally and deeply involved with us. I was telling Him how awesome it is that He’s over there with my Pastor and his wife, and over there with another friend of mine, and at the same time with …what’s her name? I couldn’t remember, though her face was in my mind. I said, “I don’t know her name right now. Then smiling, “You know her name, Lord.” And right then, almost before I finished saying that,
God whispered her name to me. And the way He whispered it was such a loving, proud Father, doting love type of way. I wish you could have heard it! When I see this person, I’m going to tell her. I hope it is as ground-breaking to her as it was to me to hear HER name in that way.
Can we just sit for a moment and ponder that beautiful thought? Close your eyes, take a breath, and say it: “God knows my name.”
At the same time as He is handling the universe, keeping track of the stars in the sky, the angels around Him, communing with His saints in heaven, creating a new flower, setting the sun, giving breath to new life and taking home one of His faithful children, He is also thinking of you.
“Listen to me, you islands; hear this, you distant nations: Before I was born the Lord called me; from my mother’s womb he has spoken my name.”Isaiah 49:1
“Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine…”Isaiah 43:1b
“I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.”John 10:14
We cannot contain even a microbe of the knowledge of His love for us. It is unfathomable. But, every once in a while, He gives us a glimpse. Today, be at peace. Rejoice, for the Father knows your name.
* If you don’t know the Lord yet, take this opportunity to get to know Him.
“For God so loved [insert your name here], He gave His only begotten Son. so that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”John 3:16 (personalized)
God loves you so much. He knows what you’ve been through, what you’ve done, and who you are. We have all fallen short of His glory, His goodness. None of us deserve to go to heaven, no matter how good we think we are. We’ve all sinned. Sin comes with a high price: death. He knew we would sin, and He knew we’d be subject to pay the penalty, so He made a way to bring us back into right standing with Him and give us a chance to be with Him forever one day. He sent His Son Jesus Christ to die on the cross for your sins and for mine, and for the sins of the world. He was innocent, but died as a criminal. He went to death and the grave for you and me. But, death couldn’t hold Him because of His innocence, and three days later, He rose again. Now He is seated at the right hand of the Father in heaven and is preparing a place for you and for me so that where He is, there we might be also. Today, ask Him to come into your heart and give you new life in Him. It won’t be easy; life will not suddenly become perfect. But through it all, you will have a helper and friend, and a comfort in times of trouble. And you’ll know your name is written in the Lamb’s Book of Life and will remain there if you continue in faith/obedience.
If you haven’t yet, take this time to ask Him into your heart. Pray this prayer or use your own words:
God, I’m a sinner. I’ve done things in my life I’m not proud of and have let You down in so many ways. I know there’s no way I would be able to stand in Your presence holy and blameless without Your Son Jesus. Thank You for sending Him to die for me. Thank You, Jesus for dying my death and paying my price for my sins. Please forgive me for all of my sins and come into my heart. Write my name in Your Book of Life, and be with me always. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit and guide me into all truth. I submit to You. In Jesus’s name, Amen
