The Blessing of Obedience

https://blogs.loc.gov/loc/2020/05/stone-blackwell-marriage-to-love-and-honor-but-not-obey/

This week in history, the sanctity of marriage, the covering of a husband, and the honor of submission to a husband was murdered in cold blood. It is because of women like this that we have such a high divorce rate (it’s a high contributing factor), why we have abortion (women’s suffrage created this possibility), why we have a society of “nasty women” with such terrible views of men, and why we have so many effeminate men in our society.

To love, honor, and obey is a blessing of cover and one God Himself smiles upon. Obedience to your husband is not slavery, it is freedom with protection. God made men to be the covering for their wives, the voice of reason to our emotionalism, and the blessing of leadership.

If you have a husband today, (as much as they might drive you crazy), pray for them, bless them, thank them for being your covering and protection and voice of reason and leadership. Tell them you will love, honor, and obey. Then submit and see how God will change your heart and bless your home. Let’s set this right in our homes today, women. This is our greatest power.

Men, if you are married today (as much as they might grind your gears), bless your wife with protection, provision, love, and reason. Be men of courage. Run your households with the Word of God, with leadership and accountability. Be men of valor, protecting your family as Christ protects the church. Your job is to love your wife the same way Christ loves – with sacrifice of self. Pray over your wife today. Don’t just pray for her (do that daily), pray over her. Lead your family in the ways of the Lord and watch God bless you for your submission to Him. Take a stand today and hold fast! And watch Him bless your family in ways you never could have blessed them on your own.

1 Corinthians 11:9 – “…for indeed man was not created for the woman’s sake, but the woman for the man’s sake.”

Proverbs 12:4 – “A wife of noble character is her husband’s crown, but a disgraceful wife is like decay in his bones.”

Ephesians 5:25 – “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her.”

Pray for our country. Pray for marriages, and pray for men and women to again take their rightful blessed place, arranged by God.

  1. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if more men and women were obedient to the Word in marriage relationships. It’s difficult to be obedient to the Lord in all things. A husband /wife relationship would be difficult to manage without daily tending.
