We have a problem.
Okay, we have a lot of problems. And they come from a few foundational issues:
1. We have a problem of the fear of the Lord (or lack thereof). “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the Knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” (Proverbs 9:10)
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.”Proverbs 1:7
2. We have a problem of faith. My pastor says faith is obedience. And if I read my Bible right,
“Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.”Romans 10: 17
If we read our Bible, faith comes. Faith, proven by works. We are known and judged by our fruit (Matthew 7:16).
3. We have a problem of grace. Not God’s grace; that is perfection and completely undeserved. Our problem is our understanding of grace and our response or reaction to it in and by our lives. My pastor also says grace is the opportunity to be obedient to a holy God.
Yes, we are saved by grace through faith, and this is not of ourselves, it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast (Ephesians 2:8-9). But if we read that well, we understand (through God’s grace) that although grace and faith doesn’t come by our works, that is only to say we couldn’t have obtained faith or grace by doing anything in and of ourselves. But, that doesn’t mean our works shouldn’t testify to His grace and our faith:
“What use is it, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but he has no works? Can that faith save him?”…”But some may well say, “You have faith and I have works; show me your faith without the works, and I will show you my faith by my works.”James 2:14 & 18
These three problems create a division in the church and cause confusion in the world. We have those who say they are Christian, loving God. But how is it possible when to love Him means to obey Him?
“If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.”John 14:15
Therefore, we have false prophets (lying Pastors) telling the world that sin is acceptable and that God accepts all. This is a lie that many living in sin flock to and are ignorantly (willfully or truly unknowingly) following and will follow straight to the very depths of hell. (“But small is the gate and narrow the way that leads to life, and only a few find it.” Matthew 7:14) The church needs to be the standard; the standard being Christ Jesus.
The line has been drawn and the church and it’s people has largely been found wanting. Truly, how can we otherwise be found when this is the measure:
“I will make justice the measuring line and righteousness the level, then hail will sweep away the refuge of lies and the waters will overflow the secret place.”Isaiah 28:17
“How the faithful city has become a harlot, she who was full of justice! Righteousness once lodged in her, but now murderers. Your silver has become dross, your drink diluted with water. Your rulers are rebels and companions of thieves; everyone loves a bribe and chases after rewards. They do not defend the orphan, nor does the widow’s plea come before them. Therefore the Lord God of hosts, the Mighty One of Israel, declares, “Ah, I will be relieved of My adversaries and avenge Myself on my foes.” Isaiah 1:21-24
Where do you stand against that measuring line? Are you one with whom righteousness once lodged but now can’t be found? Are you one who was full of justice at the acceptance of the free gift of salvation through faith in Christ, but now are making allowances for sin in your own life and that of others because society deems it acceptable? Do you think you will be spared when the avenging, righteous, holy God pours out His wrath upon the sons of disobedience?
Let’s take some time to get before the Lord and repent. We must truly, deeply, and sincerely repent of our sins, our acceptance and allowance of sin, and our not halting sin as it came into our life, our family, our church, our city, our state, and our country.
How many of us sat by while abortion was made legal and more protections were granted for murderous mothers? How many of us sat by while the school system updated curriculum to include the immoral agenda of the homosexual and pedophelial spirits? How many of us claimed to be Christian but not those who take the Bible literally? What other way is there to take it? How many of us were okay with closing our churches against the Word and mandate of our God? How could we turn our backs on the King who came as a man to die for our sins? How dare we! Open your churches while you still can!!!
Oh God, forgive us all! For we are truly unrighteous, unholy, undeserving of Your grace and mercy. Look what we have done in our selfishness, our greed, our fear, and our wickedness! We repent! Draw Your church to You in righteousness. Draw us to Your Word and convict us of our great sin. Heal our land, unify Your church, and bring the lost to thorough salvation and cleansing in Your faithfulness.
Thank You for Your sacrifice on the cross for our saving. You are truly (and the Only) worthy of all praise, honor, glory, and power.
The King is coming…are you ready?
